Many modern users prefer to work with a mouse rather than type on the keyboard. Switching from SAP GUI to Fiori apps is one of the consequences of this trend.
SAP GUI is still a powerful tool for SAP consultants and even for the users. That’s why SAP Expert already given you some advice on how to configure different colours for your systems, or how to use GUI on non-Windows machines.
If you still stick to SAP GUI, and if your jobs somehow links to touching the keyboard, sometimes it is easier to use keyboard shortcuts that SAP GUI gives you.
SAP Expert is sure you know many of them, but let me take a chance and give you another compilation of shotcodes.
Command Line
These are short commands that you can enter in the command line field of the SAP GUI
- /n – close current transaction and get to the main menu
- /nXXXX – close current transaction and start transaction XXXX in the current window
- /o – session manager, which allows you to create or delete current GUI windows
- /oXXXX – open new window with transaction XXXX in it
- /nex – close all windows and silently log off the system. No questions asked, so you risk to lose your current unsaved data
- /i – same as /nex, but with a confirmation request
- /bend – stop the current batch input session. Obviously, this only works in batch input sessions.
Keyboard
- Ctrl-C – Copy
- Ctrl-V – Paste
- Ctrl-Y – start selection of a rectangular part of the screen.
You may wonder why it is Ctrl-Y. Just look at the German keyboard layout – and you see that Y is a neighbour of C and V keys, hence these tree make a perfect match for Germans. But not for the rest of the world. SAP is a truly German company. |
- Ctrl-S – save
- F8 – run the report
- F3 – back (green arrow on the toolbar)
- Shift-F3 – exit (yellow arrow on the toolbar)
- F12 – cancel (red cross on the toolbar)
- F1 – field help
- F4 – field search help, list of possible values.
