A Career advice to those interested in SAP

Greetings everyone, my name is Willie Greer, and at the moment I am a member of the SAP Club of Southeastern Wisconsin, as well as unemployed. I have an Associate in Applied Science degree in Software Application & Programming, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Information Technology Project Management, and a member of the only SAP club in Wisconsin that was started in my instructor’s small living room. Although, we have grown a bit and now have our club meetings/SAP studies at a Technical school in Greenfield, Wisconsin.

I got started in SAP Basis three years ago as an interesting study into learning about other new form of technology that was being to peak in my area from a workshop for SAP done by now my SAP club founder, a Mr. Joseph Martinez. For those whom wish to make a career out of SAP, let me give you some advice.

First off, you might just hear to find a school that has an internship program and get a list of which companies that works with the University. Do not feel surprised if you do not find any, those internships programs are only in certain high tech areas and state, not in Wisconsin, which is where I am.

Also, there are companies that you might find that have an SAP internship program, but you might have to pay for it, which is another problem when you are unemployed or can’t afford the program.

Another idea, of which I suggest, is to go on line such as the SAP Community Network (SCN) which is a community of SAP customers, partners, employees, and influencers where you can find documents or even video tutorials that which you can learn from.

You can also go online to find cheap or even free books on SAP. I myself have found an SAP ABAP book on Amazon that was free, just by signing up for their membership, it’s several years old but it gives me the knowledge that I need to understand my interests in SAP.

If you have learned anything from what I told you is this, if you wish to learn SAP, you can if you have the drive for it cause it is not for those whom when things get tough they quit. No, it is for those who can see the future, and wish to be successful and have a more productive life of understanding new technology and where will it take us next.

So if you are interested in SAP, then work hard and seek out opportunities that are out there, even though you might have to travel a good distance to get your foot in the door. It will all be worth it when you do, because where there is one then there are others. But only if you are serious, for if you are not, then you’ll be disappointed by the lack of possibilities and your own short comings for learning.
